A milestone worth sharing

Today feels a little special to me

Thirteen years ago, on March 17, 2013, I received my certificate from my very first 200-hour yoga teacher training.

Over the past thirteen years, being a teacher has brought countless classes, conversations, new friendships, retreats, and a community that continues to grow in ways I’m so grateful for. I’ve had the privilege of learning from incredible teachers, refining my craft, and sharing my practice with so many of you.

So it feels especially fitting, and maybe just a little lucky🍀, that on this exact anniversary I get to announce a new chapter:

I’ve been accepted into a Yoga Therapy teacher training program!! Beginning this month, I'll embark on a nearly three-year adventure in higher learning.

You might be asking, "What exactly is Yoga Therapy, Monica?"

Yoga therapy takes a more personalized, holistic approach, using the tools of yoga in an individualized way. Practices like breathwork, movement, meditation, and lifestyle support are thoughtfully adapted to meet the specific needs of each person, often to help manage health conditions, reduce symptoms, and improve overall function. Given this, the training program is often described as something like graduate school for yoga teachers.

I’m incredibly grateful for the years of curiosity, practice, and connection that led me here, and I’m excited to see how this deeper training will continue to shape the way I support this community.

Here’s to another thirteen years of learning, growing, and practicing together!

Singing Club was a hit

Our very first Singing Club meetup was a huge success!

One attendee summed it up perfectly: "I was already in a good mood before I came, but now I am in a GREAT mood!"

We had such a joyful time singing, humming, and sharing space together, and I can’t wait to do it again.

Our next meetup will be April 9: same time, same place. Maybe you'd like to join us?

Winnie’s Book Club

Our Snack & Chat for The Seamstress of New Orleans is coming up next Thursday from Noon to 2pm at the Mammen Family Library.

Considering the story takes place in New Orleans during Mardi Gras season… I have a feeling the snack table may be especially festive.

Brunch Yoga at Spring Creek

The Spring Equinox is on Friday, marking the return of longer days, fresh energy, and new beginnings. What better way to celebrate than with yoga at Spring Creek Garden Center?

Join me on March 20 for Brunch Yoga in their new Gathering Haus! Yoga begins at 10:30am, followed by the optional (but highly recommended) brunch at The Desert Spoon.

Move your body, soak in the garden vibes, and linger over a really good meal with great company.

Yoga + Sound Bath at a new location

And this Saturday, 3/21, Cherie and I are excited to share our Yoga + Sound Bath experience at a new location!

Join us at Inspire Dance Studio for Yoga at 1pm and Sound Bath at 2pm. I may be a little biased, but I'd say it's the perfect way to reset and welcome the new season.

Come for one or stay for both. Bring your mat and anything that will help you get cozy for the sound bath. Click the flyer below to reserve your spot:

One more invitation…

And speaking of special gatherings, the Hand Craft Slumber Party Staycation is coming up April 29 – May 1, and there are still a few spots left!

This little retreat-in-town will include yoga, art-making, a floating sound bath, nourishing food, fun connections and deep rest. Think grown-up slumber party energy, but with a lot more intention (and a lot less cleanup).

Thanks again for 13 years of fun. I look forward to seeing you soon!

With love,

Monica

Yoga for your home (yes, really) You've probably heard me say this in class: no judgment, no expectation, no comparison. But that doesn’t just apply on the mat. It very much applies to our homes, too. Let’s be real: we all have that spot (or maybe a few 😅). It could be a drawer, a closet, half a room, the whole dang garage... a space that makes you go ughhhh every time you see it. And usually it’s not that we don’t care... it’s just that it feels like a lot. So we work around it, close the...

The invitation is officially open💌 After sharing the Slumber Party Staycation invite with my VIP list, a few familiar faces have already said yes (which makes me ridiculously happy). The gathering is beginning to take shape! The private rooms have already filled, and the remaining spaces are in the shared bunk room (which honestly carries a little of that adult-camp energy I secretly love). This gathering is designed to feel easy and nourishing: No travel required. Just showing up as you are....
