Or... do you?I was listening to 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' the other day and got stuck on that line “You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer…”🎶 I realized… I don’t actually know them. But then I paused and thought about it a little more. Each reindeer has a distinct personality: energy, grace, confidence, heart, strength. When I look at it that way, I recognize every one of them. Maybe I do know them. Nerd alert: This thought excited me. So, in true Monica fashion, I took this idea and ran with it. 🤣 In next week's Welcome Winter mini-Retreat, we’ll meet the reindeer not as characters, but as familiar qualities we already carry… and explore how it takes all of them to move through the darker, colder stretch of the season. It'll go down in historyJoin me for some reindeer games on Monday, 12/22, at the Welcome Winter mini-retreat! From 12:00 to 2:30 pm, we'll explore the perfect yoga blend: a fun flow (vinyasa), a slow stretch (restorative), and a deeply relaxing rest (nidra). We’ll also take time for a simple, heart-centered activity to help invite a personal mantra to the surface... something meaningful you can carry with you into the new year. A light snack will be provided, and I encourage you to bring an extra blanket and bolster so you can fully settle in during yoga nidra. Think warm, cozy, and supported. As my holiday gift to you, this one-of-a-kind mini-retreat can be booked using one of your existing class passes. Drop-ins are also welcome for $15. If 12/22 doesn't work for you, maybe Monday, 12/29, does? Join me for Goodbye 2025 (same format, less reindeer-y) from 12:00 to 2:30 pm on Monday, 12/29! Give yourself permission to say yes (and yes, you can do both if you want to). Click below to RSVP:
Winnie's Book Club UpdateWe had the most epic time on our field trip to see Hamnet. Truly... WOW. I will be shocked if those actors do not walk away with some awards. There was not a dry eye in the house. What a powerful, beautiful way to close out Winnie’s Book Club for 2025. If you need a good cry, may I suggest you watch the movie Hamnet? Now we are officially shifting gears for our next read. Our new pick is "Something in the Water" by Catherine Steadman. If you've been waiting for a psychological thriller where one tempting decision unravels everything, this one’s for you. So add "Read a book" to your to-do list and save the date to discuss it on January 22 from Noon to 2 pm, location TBD. There are just three more chances to pick up your hand craft holiday goody bag! I hope to see you tomorrow (for our last regular class of 2025) or at one of the upcoming mini-retreats. However you choose to close out the year, may it help you make space for what matters. With love, Monica |
Plug in to what lights you up This Saturday, I arrived at the studio for our morning classes and noticed a small tree sitting on the front desk. Its lights were off, but it had lights… so of course I turned it on. A tree with lights that aren’t glowing just feels a little sad, like it is waiting for permission to shine. A few minutes later, Cherie walked in and said, “Oh wow, I like that tree!” As we watched it slowly spin, we realized something magical: not only were the lights beautiful,...
TGID I cannot believe we are already stepping into the very last month of the year. I saw somewhere that December is like the Friday of the year, and honestly… I feel that. There is this playfulness, a softening around the edges, and an invitation to have a deep exhale. With that in mind, I want to share a quick update about our schedule for the end of the year. There will be no "regular schedule" classes on December 22, 24, 29, or 31 (the last 2 weeks of the year). But I am excited to offer...
But first things first As we ease into Thanksgiving week, I want to take a big breath with you: the kind that softens the shoulders, unclenches the jaw, and reminds us that gratitude isn’t just a holiday theme… It’s a practice. Like yoga, gratitude becomes a practice when we turn our attention toward it with intention. It is a practice of noticing what is already supporting us, instead of what we think is missing. Sometimes it is as simple as pausing to name one thing that feels good,...
