Tallow there 👋Just a reminder for the locals: today is the Moms & Mimosas back-to-school market at Bourbon and Branch (in Spring Branch) from 8 am to 2 pm. I’ll be there helping my dear friend Jordan of Four Six Farms with her handcrafted tallow products. Each one is crafted from her land, her animals, her honey, and her heart. Come sip a mimosa, say hi, and browse all the local goodies! Plot twist: It's in Bulverde!I knew our current book club pick Party of Liars was based in the Texas Hill Country, but I didn’t realize just how close to home it would feel! So far, we have references to the donut shop off Hwy 46, houses along FM 1863, and the way this area bleeds “Ranger blue.” I’ve even spotted a few names that sound awfully familiar... and it has me wondering if some of these characters were inspired by people right here in our community! If you’ve been waiting for a book that makes you feel like you’re reading your own backyard, THIS is the one. Save the date to join us for Winnie's Book Club official snack & chat on Thursday, September 4th (Noon - 1:45 pm) at the Mammen Family Library. Sit. Stay. Stretch.Since we’ll be taking a short break from in-person yoga (no classes on August 25, 27, September 1, or 3), this could be the perfect chance to dive deeper into your practice at your own pace and from the comfort of home. How to Train Your Dog offers focused learning on the dynamic, foundational pose that is Downward Facing Dog, while What’s Up Dog breaks down steps and variations to build toward Upward Facing Dog. Both are just $15 each (unless you're a virtual member, then they're already in your library!). If you’ve been curious about refining your practice, these workshops are a great way to deepen your understanding. You get to pause🐾, rewind, take before and after pictures of yourself, stop to pet your actual dog...and who knows, maybe your pup will learn a thing or two right alongside you!
Of course, let me know if you have any questions or technical difficulties. I'm just an email reply away! I look forward to connecting with you... on the mat, in a book, or at a market table. With love, |
Time for a story! The other day I was sitting still in the middle of a field on my parents' ranch... just breathing, just being... when a big ol’ bumblebee zipped right in front of my face! I startled for a moment, my whole body tensing, until it landed softly on my knee. Actual photo of actual bee on actual knee! I froze and let it rest there. And as I sat with this tiny, gentle creature... close enough to see the little joints in its fuzzy legs, I laughed to myself: “Well, isn’t this just...
Soulful Saturday 8/16 This weekend, I’d love for you to join us at Trilogy Dance Center for a gentle way to start your weekend with intention. We’ll begin with an all-levels yoga class at 9:30 am, followed by a sound bath from 10:30-11:30 am. You can come for one or stay for both. Perhaps you are wondering..."what's a sound bath?" Don’t worry...no towels required (though you may want an extra blanket and bolster!). This bath is fully clothed, and you won’t even get your hair wet. Instead,...
Fun fact Did you know that besides being the eighth month in our calendar, august is also an adjective that means respected and impressive? Other definitions even include “majestic dignity” and “grandeur.” I was today (okay, yesterday) years old when I learned this. So yes, you are officially invited to move through the month with majestic dignity. And if you wobble or fall out of Tree Pose along the way, even better. That’s how we strengthen the roots. Winnie picked a good one! For this...
