Have you heard?

Something cool is on the way...

Let's embrace the fall feelings with Garden Yoga on the lawn this week! Come to Spring Creek Garden Center this Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:25 pm for an all-level yoga class.

Of course, if grass isn't your thing, there is a covered cement area surrounding the lawn just for you. Feel free to stay after for a little wine (or beer!) and enjoy their beautiful patio.

With the cool breeze, gorgeous space, and warm sun on your face, it will most definitely be the happiest hour of your day. Let me know that you plan to attend by clicking the button below:

A note about our garden center classes...

This week marks just six more chances to practice yoga at Spring Creek Gardens this year. After Wednesday, November 20, we'll take a hiatus from December through February. I'll keep you posted on our return as the seasons change!

For now, I hope you can come and enjoy yoga in this beautiful space while you can!

Back to cool things...

I stumbled upon this awesome guide, "Yoga Poses for Little Creatures," and thought it was worth sharing with you big creatures. The artist is named Nicole Debarber, and she is so talented! I hope you enjoy zooming in on each one like I did.

Another cool thing...

Every now and then, I peruse old writings to get inspired by my past self. Today, I found something from FIVE years ago, written in October 2019. It is a transcription of one of the podcast episodes I produced with my best friend, Katie. Between 2019 and 2020, we released 75 episodes all about mindfulness, creative writing, and getting past the inner critic. We called it "Write Here, Right Now."

Anyway, this particular episode felt so important that we wrote it into a blog post so people could read it instead of just listening. Then, because life gets busy, we never shared it. It has just been sitting there. For five years.

UNTIL NOW! So, should you choose to visit my website to read the blog, please read the paragraph at the top first. Should you choose to actually listen to the episode, be warned: sometimes we use unsavory language (sorry, Mom).

Most importantly, should you choose to complete the creative writing exercise (that we prompt you to participate in with us at the end of every episode), PLEASE share it with me by replying to this email. Enjoy!

For my Monday night folks

There will be no 7 pm class next Monday, October 21st. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility!

Stay cool, friends!

With love,

Monica

I've been doing a little positive scheming lately😏 One of my favorite activities is dreaming up adventures for our community. And two of them are starting to feel so real that I can't keep them to myself anymore. The first is a cozy 2-night getaway coming at the end of September, close enough that you won't need to board a plane. The second is a 4-night adventure planned for January that will have us venturing out of state. That's all I'm saying for now. 🤐 If reading this gives you that...

Someone shared something with me, and it got me thinking... A student told me they had to get an MRI recently, something that used to bring up a lot of anxiety. This time, they used their breath to get through it... and it really helped. I might have actually jumped for joy. As much as I love what happens in the classroom, it's stories like this that I really treasure. Don't get me wrong, I genuinely love witnessing the way you honor your bodies, connect with your breath, and light up when...

Full disclosure: Until this week, I had never once questioned why pirates wore eye patches (have you?). I just assumed it was part of the job description. Lots of sword fights, probably. Maybe the occasional parrot-related incident. Then a friend introduced me to the theory that pirates may have worn eye patches so that one eye remained adjusted to darkness, allowing them to move more easily below deck. There isn't enough evidence to know for sure, but many historians think it's a reasonable...
